Faith in the supreme Lord
Om Jai Sai Ram! This world is verily like a pit infested with poisonous snakes. Circumstances in life are like deadly reptiles which evoke a plethora of negative emotions in us. One is forever dying a slow death in this pit expecting happiness from it. All it gives is pain followed by more pain. Heart ache and pain are rife. However, when the Sadguru appears above us and covers the dark pit with his effulgent radience, we realize that the snakes are an illusion. We mistake the ropes for snakes and we suffer endlessly. The Sadguru can make us forget this illusory snake pit and lead us to the garden of blissful paradise which is our original home. Often us devotees are drowned in a quagmire of problems which overwhelm us at every turn. If we turn to the Sadguru and happily clasp his lotus feet isntead of trying to be cleaver, the problems vanish like darkness before light. The storm which seemed life threatening goes away at the Sadguru's command to give way to life giving sun shine.
Once a terrible thunderstorm hit the tiny hamlet of Shirdi. Fierce winds broke branches of trees and swept away the roofs of houses. All the people and animals in the village instinctively turned to their god, Sainath of Shirdi. The people and the animals crowded around the masjid where Baba was seated staring at the pure red hot flames of the Dhuni. They pleaded to Baba, to come to their rescue. They said, knowledge of the Vedas and scriptures we have none. The Quran we do not know fully. We do not know what rituals to perform and when. All we know is that you are the Lord Supreme, oh Sainatha and you are our only savior. Save us from this terrifying and life threatening storm oh friend of the poor and helpless". Sainath's heart was filled with mercy. Just as a mother cannot look at her children suffering in pain, the Lord God of Shirdi's heart melted at the love of his devotees. He came brandishing his satka and looked up and the dark clouds above. He decided this storm has to abate and peace should prevail.
In Vrindavan a long time ago, this very same Deva had saved the cowherds of Gokul by playfully lifting the Govardhana on his little finger. The storm in the form of Indra's wrath abated after realizing the all powerful Lord's mercy and will. Similarly Sainath, roared at the dark skies. "Stop it!" he said in a voice that shook the walls of the masjid. "Stop it! Be calm". No sooner had the Samartha Sadguru roared thus, the clouds went away. The thunder and lightning stopped. And the storm abated. The people and animals grateful in their hearts bowed before the Lord God and went back happily to their homes. Hence we children of Sainath must remember this lesson always. No matter how overwhelming the problems in life seem to be, forget not Baba's assurance "Why fear when I am here!". Fear, anxiety or stress in any troublesome situation is unfounded if we have faith in our Sainath maharaj. Like the storm that went away at his roar, the problems in life will be blown away when you turn towards him and seek his help. In his effulgence the darkness of life's troubles will vanish like chaff before the wind. My prayer to Sainath, is to increase my devotion in him and to trust him fully and no matter what the situation is, and no matter how bad life seems, Sainath will take me safely to my rightful place in the universe. Sainath will take me to his home safely and without injuries.
Bow to Shree Sai! Peace be to all!
