Guru Pournima

Om Shree Ganeshaya Namaha! Om Shree Sainaathaya Namaha!

First I bow before Lambodhara,
The foremost lord of the universe

This world is but your varied manifestation
I beg you to help me to sing but your glory

On this night, when the Full moon is bright
One reads the Vedas and contemplates on Brahman

Another reads the Kalma from Quran and says Allah Ho Akbar
Another chants verses from Gurbani and says Wahe Guru

The agnostics seek Nirvana from their Sutras
The atheists want the same from their Tirtankaras

Those who read the psalms from Bible contemplate on Yehwah
They are all singing but your glory tonight oh Sadguru

For thou art that, which everyone craves for
In different forms and things we seek but you

The air we breathe, and the water we drink are but one
Likewise all the forms that the eyes can and cannot behold

Are but your manifold incarnations
There is no place devoid of you

Truth be told you have no name nor form
You take both to please your devotees

You know the workings of the machinery called fate
You alone know how to fix a broken one

I beseech you on this holy day
Commemorating your greatness

To fix my broken fate, so that
My mind is away from worries

And ever fixed on your blissful form
I seek but your lotus feet, in various ways

This deep longing is but for you and none else
Just as the Chakor birds seek the moon light

Hindu or Yavana there is none
In god's court all are one

This message you drove home
To the bigots and narrow minded

There is only one lord for all
And the only religion is humanity

You are that one lord oh, Sadguru
I know not any other god

The world is suffering right now
A man fights his brother

Because of his religion, race and color
But are you not present in one and all

Please drive sense into the ignorant
May your blessed message reach all, oh Sadguru

Sharath, the child of Sai prays
Oh Sainath! Please bless one and all

Just as a miser thinks of his money
Or as a lover always thinks of his beloved

Or as a mother of her child
Or as glutton thinks of tasty dishes

Let me always think of your lotus feet
For in them verily lies emancipation

You are verily Vasishta, You are Sandipaani
You are Vyaasa, You are Brighu and Bharadwaaja

Thou art verily Lord Dattatreya
Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara

Volumes have been written about
Your glories and splendor

But it is like an unfinished book
For there is no beginning or end to your glories

One cannot find you oh Gurudeva,
You alone find yourself through a form

For once a being finds you
The being ceases to exist

And there is only you and nothing else
Just as the firefly merges into fire and

There remains only the fire, or as the river
Merges with the sea and there is only the sea

The universe and the various events
Are nothing but you engaged in your cosmic dance

One who can get of this, but a glance
Will be immediately in a trance

This is the holy Guru Pournima
You are known as the most liberal

I come to beg from you with the zoli
Please fill it with your divine vision

Having seen which nothing else
Remains to be seen, Oh Sadgurunaatha

--Dedicated to the Lotus feet of Sadguru Sainath

Bow to Shree Sai! Peace be to all!
